Just cool the pistons thats it? Nothing to do with a forced induction engine having a lot more positive crankcase pressure from blowby?

yah, the main idea behind it is cooling. there so much splash and oil vapour in the crank case, those bores are getting well lubed.

100kw and 20v have them, and they arnt F/I like many others.

So in that case, considering lukeae86 is going turbo, a 7 rib block with squirters would be the best for keeping charged temps down.

    I have a gt28r running 14psi of boost.
    You dont get 160kw atw.
    My setup has 154kw...

Im blaming it on the very humid 35degree dyno day.

You should make 160kw easily on 1 bar... if you don't there's a hole in your setup (or, like you said possibly an external factor).

Each engine is different but with all being equal, if you make 175rwkw at 6100rpm on a DOHC 1.8lt 4cyl, then on a similarly efficient DOHC 1.6lt 4cyl you should make that power by 7000rpm (extra RPM to allow for drop in capacity)..... and honestly, my setup was pretty crap at the time & I was unhappy with the tune as well.

Oil squirters are a bit of a wank in my opinion - yes tehy have benefits and yes they can work, but in the real world they aren't necessary.

Besides the T-vis plate would probably be a hindrance to all out flow.

Any one whose ever driven a bigport with the t-vis disconnected can attest, very doughy until the revs build.

Both heads are capable of making the same power, but the smallport will keep low down throttle response = driveability and honestly that counts a lot more than the final all out power figure.
I'm not going to sit here and argue. Any of the heads will work, and none of them will be a 'slug'.

    Data logged some driving.
Havent touched the boost controller in a year (im using a bleed valve).
On my boost gauge it show 15psi. However on the laptop it shows 12psi.
Interesting to see that the boost gauge is out by so much.
Or the Map sensor is out?
    Whats a more reliable source?

I would be more inclined to trust the map sensor than the boost gauge!

    Its a supercheap boost gauge.
    Looks good.
The boost cut in the ecu is on 190kpa, or approx 13psi.
And apparently the injectors are maxed out. 440cc injectors, Nissan S15 Turbo, stock fuel pressure.
Fairly common setup, what has everyone squeezed out of 440 injectors?

from memory i made 260hp or 280hp (have to check dyno sheets) on 440cc injectors, stock reg, 910 fuel pump, stock lines.

Hey Luke just thought you & others would find this interesting re the differences between the big & small port intakes on the 4age engine.

This guys made himself a hybrid:

Yeah when it comes to turbo or supercharged I think ultimately a custom intake that matches your set up is ideal

wow have not been on here for a while, alot has changed since i last logged onto toymods haha well im in the process of building my engine finally and by golly have the goal posts been moved. current setup is 20v block with small port head supertech +1mm oversize valves and double valve springs and alot of port work toda cams and cam gears shim under bucket conversion.. bottom end is a spool stroker kit bringing my capacity up another 124cc gonna be running an edt turbo kit from the states with an ebay to4e all controlled by a microtech lt8s im yet to move towards buying injectors and wat not but i will be creating a build thread with LOTS of pictures along the way dang dangs was a major inspiration in choosing this 4agte path and so was a friend i grew up with who has also built a 234kw atw ae86 4agte. keep an eye out for my build thread which i will update as much as possible
