Default fuel pressures, 1UZ.-solved,thanks to cruz.

i've gotta get a fuel pump for my conversion, just wonderin what the minimum pump would be? i can get a falcon pump cheap off a mate, or would i need something better? like a bosch 910? i found one on ebay for $145.

also, should i get a rising rate regulator? would it do anything on a standard 1UZ?

i'm not sure if i want to get an in tank pump or have a surge tank or what? i've got an in boot tank.

    any help/advice appreciated.

Rising rate regulators are only for boosting a motor on an NA ecu with no other fuel control.

Stock fuel pressure is 290kpa (2.9bar, 42psi), so compare that to the Ford pressure, or the specs of the Bosch 910.

Minimum pump on a stock motor would be something around what you'd find in a stock MA70 7MGE Supra.

Joe, I dont think the tank in the mx22 is going to have many baffles.
You might end up getting fuel surge once the fuel level gets a bit low (below 1/4)

To avoid this, a surge tank and associated pumps would be an easy fix, however you could also make up a swirl pot for the ma70 pump to sit inside the factory tank.

When are you going to post up some pics of the UZX22 ??
    Can't wait!

i'll have to look into that, thanx for alerting to it P.I.S.

it's nowhere near ready, i've been taking progress photos and clearance photos for documentation.

i could put some engine bay pics up later, just to show you how tight it is in there.

atm i'm thinking of relocating the engine back a bit further, and replacing the mounts, but i'll do that after i get some wiring done, hence this thread.

the 7mgte pump should do me for if i modify the engine further, ya? i was thinking of supercharging, is that out of reach? also, is that possible with a piggybacked ecu?

I'd say if you can get the 7mgte pump in and working well, it should be adequate for some engine mods. - As cruzida said, 7mge pump will be ok for a standard engine, and the 7mgte pump would probably flow an extra 30%+

It would be good to get the engine back as far as you can, providing theres still good steering rack clearance, I take it you've already done the R&P conversion??
This will give some more room for radiator, cooling fan(s) & a blower if you take that route.
I don't know about supercharging the 1uz. Maybe have a good search around lextreme forums.

i've started the r&p conversion, but didn't get to finish it. i'll probly have to get a different rack now anyway, one with power steering. any suggestion?

i'm only thinking of supercharging atm, not definate.

is the 7mgte pump intank or inline?

Not sure about rack, I don't know of anyone who's done a R&P setup on a mk2. You're just going to have to hunt around the wreckers with a tape measure and look for one the right length. Are you mounting it on the xmember with different steering arms, or making its own xmember?

    7mgte pump will be intank.

    yay, more fun!

i might be able to mount it off the xmember bolts, they're in the right spot for it.
