Thumbs up How to paint your Brake Calipers

Hey all thought i would paint my brake calipers and make a tech note on it for those who are interested in doing this to their cars, but are not sure how to do it
( I apologise for the image quality, the editing software isnt the best )

    Eqipment needed

    Methylated Spirits
    Brake Caliper And Drum Paint
    Cotton Rag
    newspaper
    masking/duct/gaffer tape

Next step is to jack the wheel up,remove the wheel off the hub and use the cotton rag and the methylated spirits to clean the surfafce of the caliper, to make sure the paint has a clean surface to bond to.

The next step is to cover up what u do not want painted, by using the newspaper and the tape..

After that, start painting make sure tho that u spray evenly, so the end result will look neat

Once the paint is dry, remove the newspaper..

Then put the wheel back on the hub and repeat these steps on the other calipers....
once your done.. stant back and admire your fine work

Hope i could be of help...

    Thanks

Extra points for removing pads, bolts and rubber boots when painting. It also gives that not so rushed look when you're finished

A better solution for the preparation could be used too if you remove the pads etc as it's not wise to get thinners/wax and grease remover etc on them.

    +ve rep mate

Edit: Just looked at the pics again and noticed you were uber lazy and didn't even take them off the car to paint

Good write up champ. +rep for you.

I know it would mean having to mess with the brake fluid but would it be better to take them off and use sandpaper or does your way work just as well. Either way good stuff. p.s your hand looks funny in that top pic.

The paint on the rubber boots and bolts etc will obviously be the first to go and then further flaking will most likely occur. But I spose if you want quick and easy results then it's fine. For a longer term look I would definitely recommend removal and a minor strip down with a lot of effort put into cleaning and preparation.
