Boxing Day Cruise- 26/12/10- From PENRITH To LITHGOW (Lake Wallace)!

BOXING DAY CRUISE... SUNDAY 26/12/2010!

Date: 26/12/2010
Meet: Penrith, Mulgoa Rd... The Carpark Next To Krispy Kreme's (@ Penrith Panthers)
Get There: 9:30am
We Leave: 10am
Destination: Lake Wallace (5kms Past Lithgow Jail)
Route:

From the carpark, we turn Left onto Mulgoa/Castlereigh Rd. following it all the way out to Richmond where we turn Left at March St.
March St. leads onto Kurrajong Rd. and eventually Bells Line Of Road.
Follow it through the mountains and hills (past Clarence & Zig Zag Railway) it eventually turns into Chifley Rd. & Mort St. once in Lithgow.
Once we reach the traffic lights at end of these chain of roads (Bells Line Of Road), turn Right onto Lithgow St.
Take a quik Left onto Main St.
Follow it out to the Great Western Highway, where we turn Right at the Maccas traffic lights.
Follow the Great Western for 10-15mins, where you will pass Lithgow Jail.
Stay on the Great Western, 2kms turn Right onto Barton Ave.
Down the road 2.5kms is the entrance to Lake Wallace Carpark

Note/Overview:
I drove the route myself out to the lake to see if it was reasonable. Amazing drive through the moutains, alot of windy roads up and down hills. No one can get lost! The parking area at the lake is on grass. The road which goes around the carpark is dirt but solid- NOT LOOSE. There are a few tiny pot holes, but nothing i couldn't miss! The area does have toilets. As for dining, i couldn't find any shops! Lithgow is definately your better bet.

Route Bak:
Bells Line Of Road (same way as we came), but via Great Western Highway through Hartley up to Mount Victoria where we turn Left at Darling Causeway, which gets back onto Bells Line Of Road!
