You mean it has less power than it should and want to fix it?
Or do you mean you want more power than the 2.4L is capable of?

sorry my mistake.....
its functionally as it should but the 2.4 is just not enough.... its an auto also .....
22rc or 22re?? if 22re supercharger kit/turbo kit?? 1jzgte/w58 is a good option,

What budget do you have is the first thing? If you are willing to spend in the thousands then go the 1uzfe. Best power vs expense vs reliability IMO. Literally a pile of options though just comes down to budget really.
You easiest/cheapest options will be 1uzfe, 1jzgte. 3rzfe, 5vzfe. Anything is possible just a matter of money

make sure it is tuned properly first - the cheapest option is to slap a weber carb on it and stick a set of extractors onto the standard exhaust. use good fuel and you could bump up the timing a couple of degrees.
but then still stick the 1uzfe in it

Are you a P plater? if so, no engine mods or swaps allowed.
If you want more power on a budget, look into a Commodore V6 conversion. whole cars can be picked up for not a lot of money. will be cheaper than just about any Toyota engine swap that is worth doing. (IE 1J -2J I6 or 1UZ V8) .
Ultimately a 1J or 1UZ would probably be faster, but if you just want something that goes ok, the VN/P engine is hard to go past.
No im well over 18.......................... dont want vp /vn engine..............
i always want the best..who does it here?
did you want to keep it auto?? i will point out the upsides and down sides that i can see with each motor
- 1uz is probably best bang for buck / 8cyl rego
- 3rz keep 4 cyl rego / not sure whats involved in the swap
- 5vz nice torque reasonable power / not sure whats involved in the swap
- 1jz/2jz really good in a straight line / cant drive around corners quickly or in the rain

1uz all the way
make your own mounts
crown headers make the exhaust fit easy but dont flow terribly well - extractors are about $1200
exhaust 500 - 1000
tailshaft 350 - 500
wiring 750 -1000 if you cant do it yourself
front cut 1500 - 2500
++++++ work out your budget and then double it
htfu and do it yourself
