    Default storke my 4age...

    hey guys,

so story goes im fumbling my way through getting the bits together for my 7age build, and trolling along fleabay looking for random bits i might need.

    then stumble upon this.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BRIAN...Q5fAccessories

in the vague haunts of my memory i remember hearing about these earlier in the year. never paid much attention as i was busy with my beams 86.

But looking at it again tonight, it "might" be a worthwhile option to go 1.8 over the 7age. But my main question is, i was of the understanding you couldnt stroke a 4a block that far???

These have a stroke of 83mm, standard is 77mm? and it requires oversized bores of 83mm.

The only description of installation i have found is a very brief... "the block will need a mild dremmeling for fitting" but if i recal correctly, the hks 5age kit needed major block work to work.

    Cliffs.

83 mm stroke and 83mm bore on 4age. Doable for a nice engine or pushing the limits of reliability and good sense?

    ps. more details here... http://www.briancrower.com/makes/toy..._stroker.shtml

    83 on 77 = piston pin 3mm higher = doable ish
83 bore is 60 though over?

"Fully profiled counterweights are designed for reduced windage through the crankcase creating less oil resistance for better rpm potential."
image does not look particularly profiled? (on the BC website, not the ebay one)
edit: ebay has pics of two totally different kits....

Its been in discussion for a few weeks over @ club4ag - http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=84447

Its pricey.... here is what I'd do... buy the crank, and then build a "destroked" 7A using O/S pistons

You'd need custom rods and pistons, but in a 7A block, the overall package would be better in my opinion, then trying to squeeze all that into a 4A block

Been down that path too, and looked at the stroker kits and couldn't justify it vs a 7a build.. Though, stroking a 7a, i'd be tempted to do.

It's a fair full on setup, you'd be forever changing your piston rings or changing your block... With the 4.803" rods and 3.267" crank you'd end up with a 1.47r/s which would leave you with mass sidewall loading and a heeaps of friction. Great for getting mass torque but shiite house for RPM. Just my 2c
