i dont know for sure because there not something i deal with{spacesavers}, but you prob find the spacesavers are speed rated for geometery purposes! a car with one diffrent size wheel is very dangerous in the wet and in the dry at speed! my point of view, if you have flat on the front put one of the rears on the front and a spacesaver on the back!

i think you find the space saver tyres prob have a higher load rating from a normal trye of the same dimensions, so it can handle a load that size tyre wasnt suppose to carry.so if find a normal one with the same load rating, it would be fine.

offset on the space saves wouldnt be to much of a problem they would be setup to run at there widest to counter-act there width so the geometery can be as safe as possible with them, but there so narrow there isnt much in it!

offset can affect geometry and bearing loads, but there is little room to move a bit without affecting either to much.

lol the soarer mz20 i got my wife must have had a spacesaver{normal one there now} and you wouldnt want to go far on it as the mz and gz20 soarers are bloody heavy cars! lol

i would keep the extra width on the outside to increase track to counteract the lose of track using a spacesaver.

but as i said, i dont know much about spacesavers themselves as we dont use them racing!lol the principles are the same as any wheel.

Theoretically to keep the track the same the offset would have to be the same as track is measured from the centre of the tread not the outside (which is what I assume you mean). The space saver I have here appears to run the same offset (around +35, its a FWD) as the factory wheels but is quite trick to measure accurately.

    Thanks guys.

I will see if I can measure up a mates silvia space saver and if it looks like it will do I will see if I can find some skyline or soarer ones.

Or I might check out these commo ones as well

Alright, I just rang a tyre place and the dude said that the space saver wheel is attached to the tyre so I couldn't just use the rim. I think he is bullshitting me so I am ringing another place.

OK, according to PF.com, space savers are fine to use at high speeds but the tyres aren't. According to dragster.com the rims and tyres are speed rated.

I have seen a fair few cars running them so I think they will be ok.

Can get a nice 165 15" radial tyre as well so I can run radials front and rear and be legal on the street.

    Thanks

Chris, it may even have been you who posted the photos of the backyarder AE82. It does silly times (10.something) and runs space savers (with drag tyres) on the rear, so I guess:
    a) space saver wheels and tyres can be seperated
    b) they'd be fine to use

yeah I have seen people using them but that didn't prove to me that they were safe

I think it should be fine though

i thought "space saver" tyres had a speed limit. you should be able to get decent tyres to fit though.

also this is a good quick calculator i used to play with

    or
