i think there something to do with cold starts, not entirely sure.
The random injector im speaking of is after the supercharger on the side of the inlet manifold, that was originally run by the stock computer with what looked to be a fuel line attatched. Im wondering if anyone can tell me what exactly it is, and possibly lay down some flow rates and specs of it, its definatly an injector of sorts...just dont know what it did.

I'm assuming it's the cold start injector, which just runs when the car is just started to richen it all up (kind of like a choke)
RM.
Exactly right, cold start injector run by the ECU. don't know rates etc though

Cold start. Don't feel bad about asking though, I had to explain this to a mechanic recently...
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....
dont they also do a similar thing on forced induction engines to help get more fuel when running high boost?
No .

A cold start injector still isn't going to provide enough fuel to stop the car from going lean even on 1 or 2 psi boost.

The old "5th injector" trick was used back in the dark ages of modified turbo cars, but no-one with half a brain would try that any more. The CSI couldn't be used for that purpose though; for one thing it wouldn't flow enough as already mentioned, plus it's in the wrong place to get even coverage across all cylinders, and unlike a normal injector there's no way to control its flow rate - it's either "on" or "off".

cru: ya... i was answering the question about doing a simular thingdo the toyotas run a completely separate 'cold start fluid' system like rx7's?
norbs: the good old microfueler!take a guess at what you want your A:F's to be

Yep, extra temperature switch solely for the cold start that goes open when reaches a certain temp.Originally Posted by SL666

but does it use fuel or another fluid?
Rx7's (s4's at least) have a completely separate resivoir etc for 'cold start fluid' but it was an option and only taken up by people who live at the south pole![]()
No it's just fuel. I've never heard of the "cold start fluid" you speak of.
