Default Loom Extensions & Wiring Extensions

    Hiya,

I'm stripping most of the wiring out of my engine bay now in the Soarer. Basically the entire loom that feeds through the drivers side quarter, i am pulling back into the car and running behind the dash to the glovebox.

I will be mounting the fusebox and the igniter in the glovebox.. and the fuel pump relay / resistor somewhere nearby..

Battery will be relocated to the boot.

From there I will run EA2 back from the engine through the firewall (possibly extending the EA2 patch loom back to the Fusebox plug.

Therefore the only wires I foresee that i will need to extend past that point then will be for the headlight fusebox links..

So where is a really good (and cheap) place to get all the wiring from? I rang the local Autospark this morning but their prices seem a tad.. exhaustive on my wallet? (@25-30 a metre for 2 gauge) I'm going to need roughly 10m of 2 Gauge for the Battery to Starter and Battery to Alternator legs and 5m for a further 2 Gauge Ground/Negative return. Plus I'm hunting for all the colour coded wiring from the Toyota looms to match the colors while i'm extending.

I do have an entire spare loom for a GZ20 here.. but i dont want to hack it up just to salvage wires.. seems a waste of a good loom.

I use www.jaycar.com.au for 2g/4g/8g cabling. (Walk in, cut to length, pay at counter, nice and easy, prices should be cheaper than the auto lekky you quoted above)

You would be hard pressed to get exactly the same colours as toyota loom, its not exactly standard issue anywhere and usually only supplied in gazillion metre rolls.

There are a limited number of colours and stripes available off the shelf. I got mine from www.alanco.com.au. The shop is in Welshpool.

If you want to use same colours your best option would be to cut from a toyota loom. (Crimp terminals for most connectors are available online)

see if you can scrounge some old looms from the wreckers for the wires.
Also, welding suppliers etc can often supply cheap large cable.

The welding cable is more expensive because it has 2 layers of insulation.
Judging that he didnt want to pay $25 per metre he will have to stick to standard battery cable.
The most common size is 2B&S. Shouldnt be much more than 10 p/metre.

As for factory toyota colours, ive got every colour including trace colours at my work and there is alot of coulours that toyota use that i cant find anywhere.

    Hi,

Just pickup a free car that people often give away and use all the wiring off it.
