This is awesome, very unique.
Nice fab on your mounts also
mmm tial rear housing eh, very purdy
What are the proposed benefits of the tial housing?
I picked up a 1996 C class merc with some of the normal ECU/Loom problems that plague these for a great price. I just got it home today and gave it a wash-Put it up on stands and drained the fluids and started ripping stuff off. Hope to have the motor/box out in the next couple of days.
I have seen one of these done with a 1JZ, so after a bit of research, it seems if a 1J fits, then a 2JZ should also.
Should make for a great daily driver-unfortunately not a huge amount of room to fit a cooler-especially since i want to retain the AC.
Will be auto with a MV valve body, and AC working, all factory guages up and running etc.
Pics-
Engine mounts-Way over done with 8mm plate. These aren't going to twist/bend in a hurry , these will get boxed in with 5/6mm plate underneath also.
All bolted in now on it's mounts
Big thanks to JKZ25 for doing my loom.
Plan is a GT35R with Tial rear housing, 6boost manifold and Tial 44mm gate.

awesome as. nice are these mercs
Good to see another person embarking on this type of project!
I have a W201 (mid/late 80s merc) with a 1JZ-GTE, stock twins, PowerFC, W58, no AC, and 500SL front brakes.
My engine brackets are even thicker at 12mm! relatively the easiest and pretty much the first serious part of the swap
Make sure you replace the idler sub-assembly, waterpump and seals.
nice... glad to see i'm not the only one who is looking for cars based soley on being able to fit a 1jz or 2jz in them..
it's good to see someone who can actually use a mig welder, and has a can of anti-spatter...don't have to be a genius to pilot a mig neatly!!
I like the cut of your jib How tricky was getting an engine loom sorted without farking up the funky euro body loom?
I'm vaguely thinking of what engine to drop into my Audi when the current TT V6 goes south, but all the fancy shit the chassis does has me a little apprehensive?

Ah, should have known it was 'that' Glen I don't think mine is that advanced as still separate tranny and engine ECU's (2001), but they interact in mysterious ways

Haven't had time to touch this lately.... But i finally got to do/organise a few things today.
Fitted up some new shoes (needs to drop a couple of inches now). I needed bigger wheels to clear the 330mm front rotors i'm putting on.
Turns out the 3 prong output from the toyota auto was too large diameter to fit in the Merc trans tunnel, and be able to fit the auto shifter along side it.
So i had the output flange turned down and flange welded on to suit a 1350 HD series uni. (Copied the idea from Al)
Also found a way to make room for a proper front mount, so picked up one of them.
Booked in to go to the fabricators on Monday, so will make bulk progress on all the welding jobs to do
Very keen to get this up and running asap.
As are we all A fan of those Tial stainless turbine housings....by all accounts they flow well beyond what they would appear to.
