Default Options when removing brake booster from engine bay

I need to remove my brake booster form my AE86's engine bay to make room for my engine conversion.

I have found 3 options so far

1: Remote booster like used on hot rods. I'm not sure how these are set up and I'm yet to find a kit to help with install.

2: Booster-less pedal boxes, they are made by a few companies but are rather expensive.

3: Remove the booster and just run the pedal to the master cyl, by the sounds of things a few people have done this and that it makes the effort involved a lot harder (not surprising) but is it too hard to be drivable considering the car is on club rego i do use it on the roads on occasion.

Any one got any other options or hints how to do this?

if you make the discs considerably bigger, and change the lever ratio of the pedal, you can probably run boosted with not huge pedal effort, and still have good braking.

    check with your engineer?

...what engineer...I figured that if i got larger surface area calipers and moded the master cyl it would work, but with only 15" rims it makes big brake kits hard to find.

Repeat what Takai's done with his IPRA AE86 - he has to hide his brakes inside fairly small rims.

    edit: this car.

The other not so cheap option is a hydraulic booster, came on some BMW's but now available as an aftermarket thing for hot rods etc or anything with limited space. What you can also do is mod your pedal box to run dual masters and alter the pedal ratio to suit.

another option is a remote booster. something like a vh44. or use a van setup. if you have a look at express/hiace/econovan etc. you may find a suitable option. there are heaps of vans in the states with hydroboost too. most seem to run off the power steering pump. they are compact and work well.

is it a cruising (or dorifto) car or a performance car?

ie, do you need brakes or not?

Remote boosters are a pain, you generally have to run one booster for each end of the car. I only had the fronts boosted on my car for a few years.

I've gone to a booster on the firewall so as the rears are boosted

A large remote one will only do one circuit, so you would need a single circuit master and then split it after the booster for front and rear. For track car I would either ditch booster and change pedal ratio or go twin masters with a balance bar.
