So I spoke to Microtech - who can't tell me what outputs are triggered by which inputs.![]()
Does anyone know ?
Does Input #1 on the Microtech fire Output #1 and #2?
Hello
Got my adaptronic e420 running the 1JZ nicely - but it's running the factory igniter.
However the factory one isn't going to last long - so I need to get the Microtech X6 one running - I thought I had it all wired up correctly, but the engine runs like crap.
I have wired up the Adaptronic like so:
So - my theory is that the Adaptronic triggers IGN1 - which is linked to Input #1 on the X6 - which fires the coils in firing order - that is 1 and 5.Code:Adaptronic Loom X6 Input X6 Output Coil IGN1 IGT1 + IGT6 #1 #1 #1 #2 #5 IGN2 IGT2 + IGT5 #2 #3 #3 #4 #6 IGN3 IGT3 + IGT4 #3 #5 #2 #6 #4
Then IGN2 is triggered - which fires coils 3 and 6 etc.
I'm stuck now as I thought I had worked out how to wire it up correctly
I'm assuming that input #1 on the X6 fires output #1 and #2 - Input #2 fires output #3 and #4 etc.
Cheers

Shouldn't you have
Note the different coil pairings.Code:Adaptronic Loom X6 Input X6 Output Coil IGN1 IGT1 + IGT6 #1 #1 #1 #2 #6 IGN2 IGT2 + IGT5 #2 #3 #5 #4 #2 IGN3 IGT3 + IGT4 #3 #5 #3 #6 #4

I can try that - but the wiring diagram for the X6 shows that Output #1 goes to coil #1, and the rest are connected in the firing order.
That is - Output #2 to coil #5; Output #3 to coil #3, Output #4 to coil #6 etc - given the firing order is 1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4
You don't group them in firing order though.
You group them as per the mechanical configuration of the engine.
ie 1 and 6 are the same, 5 and 2 are the same, 3 and 4 are the same - in relation to piston position (have a look with the head off)

Thanks - I will try that tonight.
I was working off the wiring diagram I got.
It says to hook it up in firing order
EDIT: Is "engine firing order" different from "coil firing order"?

Technically, no.
But the order that the cylinders are connected to the an ignitor (in a wasted spark setup) is different to the firing order.
Your ignitor outputs aren't just firing 1, 2, 3.
They are firing 1,2,3,1,2,3 to complete a full cycle.
So your coils are firing
1+6,2+5,3+4, 1+6,2+5,3+4
And hi-lighting whats happening
1+6,2+5,3+4, 1+6,2+5,3+4
Which is your firing order.

Gotcha - that makes sense.
Still doesn't help it start
Re-pined the connector so it is set-up to fire this way - it sort of tries to start once, and then just cranks. Then I need to reconnect the factory igniter to clear out the fuel.
Must be something to do with the way the adaptronic outputs are connected to the X6 inputs.
Cheers
Doesn't the X6 have 6 inputs and 6 outputs ?

Ok - got it working - but I don't know why it works - doesn't make any sense
This is the way the factory igniter is wired up. None of the other ways suggested above workedCode:Adaptronic Loom X6 Input X6 Output to Coil /----------->IGN1------------> #1------------> #1------------------> #1 IGN1 \---------- >IGN6------------> #2------------> #2 -----------------> #2 /-----------> IGN2 ----------> #3 -----------> #3 ------------------> #3 IGN2 \---------- > IGN5 ----------> #4 -----------> #4 ------------------> #4 /-----------> IGN3 ----------> #5 ------------> #5 ------------------> #5 IGN3 \---------- > IGN4 ----------> #6 ------------> #6 ------------------> #6![]()
Makes a lot more sense than your first post![]()
