I used the MA70 TSRM at Cygnus.net for instructions to undo the front suspension crossmember in my MZ20 and everything was the same as far as that went, so I'd imagine these shocks should be the same for both models.

Another yep! Quite alot of a70 parts swap with z20. Like front end panels! make a soapra!! but reverse! You'll end up with a supra coupe! cool

    panels arent swap-over.

quite a bit of custom work.

That said, the Sub-Frame of both cars, from what ive read, is very similar.

EldarO: Is that first hand knowledge? I was told that it was a direct swap. Nice to know for sure one way or the other...

it is first hand knowledge, as well as being backed up by a third party, i can reference you if you would like.

The main modification, is the radiator support, as the soarer front end, and supra front end is vastly different due to the pop up headlights.

this requires the radiator support to be removed from donor car, and placed on the other car, seeing as the support isnt bolted down, they are spot welded, it requires further work to break the welds, and reweld in new spot.

to quote, from a PM from "Manny" on these forums, who owned a soapra.

"Basically it involves removing all the panels from the A-pillar forward, cut/shut/blending the rear of the A70 guards to the front of the Z20 guards and then bolting on all the front panels - bonnet, bumper, supports, latches, lights etc"

The panels themselves arent the correct shape, and need to be reshaped to suit the A70/Z20 doors.

In no way a "straight swap".

Thats cool i just wanted to know if you have tried it/seen it ect. I was told from a 'reliable' source that it was just a straight swap, but they're obviously way off. My info was obviously 2nd or even 3rd hand. <- Lesson to be learnt!

No wuckas mate, if they were a straight swap, my car wouldnt have the same front end on it

theres something about conversion front ends that makes them so cool

    just to clarify on this..

(i dont know how we got onto the topic of panel changing but anyway as eldar said its not a direct swapover and requires a lot of work. the chassis is essentially the same though)

the way to get the struts out is to obviously first

    1. take off the wheel
    2. loosen the three nuts on the top hat slightly.
    3. there is a bolt right at the back where the control arm is connected to the strut, unbolt this and slide the bolt out. the bolt is about 20cm long.
    4. undo the main bolt holding the bottom of the strut eye to the axle. this bolt is about 8cm long.
    5. gently pull the control arm forward so theres space around the strut
    6. undo the 3 top hat nuts fully and slide the strut down and out.
    7. put new strut in place and reverse all the above steps.

off memory the torque you need to bolt the two main bolts up with is about 115-120nm i think.. but yeah check that in the TSRM to clarify. oh and dont fully torque it until youve put the wheel back on and lowered it back to the ground and the weight is on the wheel
