    Default 3RZ + R150F into LN106 Hilux

    Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but there's a lot of 3RZ tech, sooo......

I have bought a 3RZ, R150F and a 2TR bellhousing from a KD150 for a conversion. I made sure I got a box with a long input shaft (190mm bell), as that is apparently the one to use with the 2TR bell. However, it doesn't seem to add up when I compare the measurements....

R150f bellhousing is 190mm, and input shaft is about 180mm, and about level with the end of the R150F bell. 2TR bell is 175mm, meaning that if I put this bell on the R150F box, the input shaft will protrude past the engine flange by 15mm, and that can't work, can it?

Do I need a R150F with the shorter input shaft/bellhousing? Should I just make a spacer from 15mm alloy plate?

It's entirely possible I have totally missed a critical concept here, but i don't think I screwed the measurements up, and they seem to match my "totally accurate" eye measurements...

    Any advice gratefully received!

Yup, after reading your experience Tweak, I understand your frustration...hope mine doesn't grenade... :-)
At least, I hope that's what you mean.

My old 3L is barely enough to spin the tyres to clear the mud, and won't hold 100km/h on the road. Plus, it's leaky and rattley, and will trun to dust if I put a turbo on it. And, it's cheaper to swap a 3RZ in than to rebuild the 3L, and will make three times the power.... what's not to love!

Only reason my when bang is i stuck300hp up its clacker. The w58 is good for no more then 200rkw

Just use a w58 if the 3rz is stock and you wont have any problems

Thanks for your help Kris..... if I wanted to keep replacing bigend bearings and timing belts I would have bought a 1G!

3RZ will be turbo'd...have a Holset HX30W to go on....

R154 would be great for a street car, but so would a tremec....might make offroad traction a bit iffy tho....it's a 4WD.

The 2TR bellhousing came on the shorter input shaft boxes. Mind me asking what you payed for the bellhousing?

Yup, that's what I'm beginning to think.

There aren't too many wreckers willing to seperate bellhousings, or many wrecking 2TRs at all. I got mine for $185 from Gold Coast 4x4 wreckers at Southport... they aren't cheap, but they have almost everything, and they're happy to split it up. Heaps cheaper than $600 for a Marlin bell that doesn't exist anymore anyway, I suppose...

Ok, bolted it up this morning....2TR bellhousing on short (160mm) shaft R150F matched up to 3RZ perfectly. Too easy!
