Default 6" Front Speakers in an 86, How have you done it?

Ive just got around to sticking an el-cheepo head unit in the sprinter so i have some music when i drive but im trying to figure the neatest and best way of installing some 6" speakers in the front doors without butchering the door cards (or at least keep the butchering to a minimum)

I would have to say that some one has a nice neat setup in their car if you could post up pics and if you have used speaker pods who makes them or what are they out of.

    Cheers

since it's an el-cheapo head deck, why not just use some nice 4 inch speakers that won't require major work to install?

If you don't want to cut the door trims you can grab the lower part of a VS commodore door trim, that will fit a 6" speaker and you can just screw it into the door trim.
My mate did it with his old 86, pretty sure he didn't have to butcher the door trim.
I can't remember if it was a straight fit or if he had to shave a bit of it down, I have a feeling he had modified it so there was no longer a gap to store crap in, it was just like an extended speaker pod. I'm sure it will all make sense once you have it all in front of you.
You will still end up with holes in your trim, so it will definately be easier to just cut a hole, but the commo door pods do look neat.
You want the bottom bit off this style door trim...

If you arent fussy for looks get some MDF and some vinyl cut some rings and cover with vinyl that matches your door trims and voila. Its easy as alls you need is a piece of MDF a drill a jigsaw some vinyl and a staple gun and some glue. Any good car person will probably have most of that hanging around already except maybe the vinyl which you can get from spotlight cheap as.
Wish I had a F#%ken awesome toyota.. saving for the goodness now.... stay tuned....
