HKS 3sge+T beams engine value?

I'm doing some research and am wondering if you guys could help me.

I'm going to Japan in a few weeks and i'm looking at buying an altezza to use while i'm there. It has a built 3s beams engine with HKS pistons, HKS 3037 turbo and HKS F con Pro ecu with 450flwhp. I'm trying to figure out what the engine conversion would be worth if I try and sell it back here. Do you have any idea? Thanks

I'm confused are you bringing the car with this package to Australia? Or wanting to do this conversion in Australia?

Either way its probably a case of how long is a piece of string. There are a few guys who know about importing the cars back to OZ i dont know how succesful you would be with a lits of mods like that.

I think OldCorolla's has a bit of knowledge on this perhaps ask him?

Sorry, I'll try and clarify. I need a car to drive in Japan, so I'm looking at buying this car, then send all the good bits on it back to sell when I'm finished. Just trying to figure out if it's worth it. Hope that make sense.

have you got a dodgy shaken guy in japan? or the car won't need it during the time you are there?

shaken lasts 2 years..
engine mods like that don't pass unless you have a dodgy inspection guy.

sending parts back is not cheap.
either EMS by weight, and avoid duty/GST, or send back with your stuff/by ship/other method and get caught for duty/GST

either way.. not as cheap as you think, and parts in aus are not worth much anyway

Don't need shaken. The freight is sorted, just trying to find out If there are people interested in the parts and what they might be worth. If not I'll buy a more common car.

EOI type threads, particularly as a new members first thread, are not generally encouraged

if you can find a buyer, sure you could sel it, but it would be sold as a second hand engine, as oppsed to a built new one.. since neither you or the buyer know how much abuse it has been through.

how long are you going to live in japan? or are you just going there for a short time?

I emailed Keith and asked him and he told me to put a thread up, Haven't been able to find any Turbo Beams engine's for sale to get an idea what it might be worth. Not trying to make a profit just want to cover my costs. I'm not going for long but I'll do a comp test and check the tune while I'm there so I can be confident in selling it. Thanks for your help.

there aren't many beams turbos for sale.

hmm.. not going to japan for long... wan to get car and then sell motor, but don't want to make a profit..

sounds like a heck of a lot of effort for no gain?
unless you are going to thrash car in japan for a driving holiday and then sell parts back to aus to cover holiday costs?

like an overblown blue slip. fairly extensive rego inspection, often costs $1000-1500.

cars cannot have engine mods (since they are mostyl not legal), btu suspension and catback exhaust are usualyl ok,sometimes not. ie car in original spec and in good condition..

but since our first time poster just wants a cheap driving holiday and then flog parts off on here(?) he won't need to get an inspection on a car that will not pass
