2x cars & drivers, and 3 scabs hoping for a passenger seat.

I finally have some decent road rubber so if the track's a bit wet it won't suck quite so badly. Hoping for a dry afternoon to get some slick runs in though.

I *will* make it though the day without having to push it onto the trailer this time!

Hey Ackerz, seeing as it's your first day make sure you're down there in time - we usually get to the track about 8:15am to grab a bay, unpack, get the car sorted and checked over, and signed in/licence done before the briefing at 8:45am. You can do that stuff after the briefing, just means you're wasting track time.

Dylan, whatever's easiest mate, just you and me as Mick's riding shotgun with me, unless something magical happened this afternoon with overnight parts from the US due 3 weeks ago. I was planning on coming home after work then heading off - what sort of time were you thinking? I could maybe have my arm twisted to pack the car tonight and drive it to work...

Car is ready to go, it even has all the dash and trim in the front of it! It all came out on the weekend, mainly because i started, fixed something really quickly and couldn't stop. Threw the essentials back in last night to go for a run up the old road with vito, finney etc and found i'd somehow managed to reverse the steering column lock when i put the ignition barrel back in. I was actually backing out of the garage when it locked, and it would unlock when i turned the ignition off.

Those things only go together one way so i disassembled and reassembled it for about an hour and a half as it really started to bug me - every time i put it together it should've worked correctly as i'd been analysing the mechanism in detail; anyway eventually after a lot of very fiddly assemblies it worked correctly and i swore at it profusely because i could not figure out why it wasn't working correctly the first time. Anyway, it was around midnight by this point so i thought i might as well put everything back in properly while i was hopped up on chilli, beer and redbull. Oh and i have dash illumination again. But i did remove a fair bit of excess wiring and leftover bits from a previous stereo, and the remaining bits of the current stereo, so it is a little bit lighter again.

Need to throw all the gear in and pack clothes etc but at least i don't have to put the car back together on thursday again. Oh and i bought a lap timer but it's currently getting delivered to the wife in NYC and she's not back till almost christmas so that'll have to wait till the feb/march day next year (don't have dates for 2011 yet).

I'm actually really keen to get down there and get amongst it!

I'm only 10 minutes from the Hurstville exit on the M5 so probably easier to give me a call when you are about to leave, my car it packed and set to go at any time. We could probably meet at Sutton Forest Maccas instead if it's only the 2 cars.

Yeah we'll probably find our own way down.. Our aim is to leave the Coast by 6.30pm, so should be down there by 9.30 - 10pm.. May meet yous on the way down, Sutton possibly if times line up.

Only about 20odd cars out there so there was PLENTY of track time.
It was roll-on/roll-off all day other than the 3 or 4 red flags.
We lost our passenger rights for the day because someone wanted to sell rides in their V8 supercar for the day, so we were not allowed passengers because of that chance that it may be on track and would affect insurace if anything were to happen.

If the temperature was about 5 degrees cooler it would have been a perfect day, but it was still damn good the way it was. Temperature management was the main task for today.

over 200kms bagged again on track today though, so can't complain about that

Was pretty warm alright but great day. Certainly couldn't complain about the crowds! I'll upload some video footage once I have a chance to go through it all.
