My brother and Ryan (the new owner of my R31) are trying to change the trans in the R31. The gearbox they got has been modified by having the end of the main shaft cut off to facilitate a different kind of drive shaft attachment method.
Normally it is connected by a rubber donut and the extension of the main shaft is what keeps it centric. That shaft extension is not there so there is only rubber to line it up. I don't think this will lead to vibration free driving.
Where can they get another A340E in a day or 2 in Canberra?
See pics. That center shaft extending from the trans has been sawn off! They are talking about just fitting it anyway.
