Default jap fuel neck reducer/adapter/cap thingy....

apparently in order to score a bargain, you have to sacrifice a few things - in this case, i seem to be missing the aust ulp filler neck and cap that would be normally fitted over the japanese spec fuel neck at compliancing...

...so seeing as i dont even have a fuel cap anymore, and currently have one of those dodgy servo-spec 'emergency' caps in place - where does one buy a new aus spec fuel neck/cap for the existing japanese neck???

    lil' help??

    cheers

if you can't find one, go to an import shop and get them to expand your current one and fit the generic threaded ulp insert they use. shouldn't cost much, they do it all the time.

I got my ULP fuel filler neck flap/trap door from a 1987 Corolla, at the wreckers, for $10. Then I cut it out of that pipe and tack welded it into my standard pipe, for a cold beer.

i dont like the "expand and jam" method all the shops use.... they are just sealed in with sikaflex - i've had issues with leaking petrol from the filler ever since!!!

yeah, i used to comply cars for a living so i took to silver soldering them in there. if its a good fit and you can solder well it works great.

Karl, when they used Sikaflex to seal up your filler, which one of the dozens of different products did they use? I sell some of them at work (Builders Hardware), and the range of different products is surprising. I can think of 3 different products that we keep that could be used in an automotive setting, but I don't know if any of them cope with petrol.

    Cheers, Richard

and thats exactly why im pissed off with how it's been fitted!!
I'd be going for "liquid steel" or something like that if i were doing it myself... and too busy to rip it out and do it again now

braising the insert in would be my no.1 recommendation!!!
