Most run ins can be done on the dyno. I dont know why you bothered running your engine in n/a form if it was intended to be turbo'd?

6psi or so should be safe if you have the correct compression etc for a run in. Drive it hard but try not to sit with no load for long periods of time. Foot too the floor driving is just as important as down changing thru the revs to cause that vaccum and bed in.

200kms is a baby, We didn't see decent sealing until at least 500kms on the 5EFHE in the Sera. We had fuel in the oil at the 500Km oil change. I am also using a magnetic sump plug to help prevent metal circulating around.

Make sure to load the engine up well to press the rings against the bores and bed the rings in properly, with decent amount of engine braking (to generate vac) to suck the junk off the bores.
Hills are prefect for this, load the engine up on the way up, engine brake on the way back down.

Yeah thanks terra, good to have someone who's just gone through this with a toyota 4 cyl. I have a magnetic sump plug too believe it or not! ha.

Been taking routs in around and out of town that gradually build altitude then have a more aggressive incline down hill to help with the vac.

Im going to hopefully source a TVIS plate as the piece i had laser cut isn't liking being sandwiched between 2 pieces of ally and thus is creating a slight vac leak.

will have it sorted out in 2 weeks time, and when it goes back on the turbo will go on also.

mr75; the engine wouldnt have seen boost in the run in anyways as the rev limit is a soft cut from 4000rpm to 4800 the turbo would barely spool so i thought i'd get the jump start on the run in whilst i fabricate the turbo manifold and dump/wastegate/screamer ect..

also to see if there are any problems that need addressing i.e this vac leak

nothing special about toyota 4 cyl engines....... it's 'just' a 1600cc twin cam 4 banger...

having built a fair few 4age's... mine have always been a bit heavy breathing, and even some a tad smokey during the first 100-150km's... but after that were perfect

    Quoted for truth!!!

If that prick isn't run in within the first couple of km's the opportunity to do the job right is gone.

So there is a direct link between venting the crankcase oil return on a smallport block to catchcan and oil pushed into it..

    ^conclusion?
