    Default P-51 Gearbox

Hello, please be patient as this is all new to me.

I have a P-51 steel case box that i have pulled to bits and found that the third gear syncro c band is worn. Does any body know where i can get one or a part out of something else that will fit? It was affecting the performance of the box as it would graunch everytime it went in to third. Toyota new zealand have no listings for the part or any idea where to get one. Has any one had this problem and can help? suggestions or ideas?

    Cheers

    Hi,

    Welcome aboard.

The first thing you need to do is use the search function with "P51" in the search box, as there are a few threads on this gearbox, including the rebuild manual.

Second thing is, there is no replacement for these bands. Toyota don't have them anymore and nor does Porsche (the P51 is a ZF/Porsche patent gearbox).

The only solution is to try and get a new one custom made - assuming you know the dimensions it needs to be made to.

Have you got pics of the worn band?

I have a complete CLUSTER assembly out of a P51.

I did not use it when I fixed the P51 I sold Brett
He will sell a reconditioned P51 gearbox for $400

    Here it is

Its at his house in Weribee full of oil.

I had no trouble finding two P51 boxes in VIC.

They are around if you know where to look.

    Hello, Thanks for your response.

I would prefer to find just the bits im after because of the cost of freight to get it to NZ. Are you interseted in selling 3rd and 4th gear c bands? The rest of the box seems to be in good condition and the bearings are readly available from the local enineering wholesalers.

    I have a W50 i could put in but i would prefer a p-51

    Cheers

Yeah no one else wants it so I can pull all the bands off if you want them.

Once they are gone they are gone.

    Hey.

How much do you want for the syncros and the assembly inside the bands? I don't need any of the gears or shafts. Only the syncro assemblys themselves. If you are willing to dismantle it id be happy to take all the syncro assemblys of the 5 gears.

    Cheers
