compression test
check for oil on plugs
is it over heating if you continue to drive it when it goes into this lumpy state?
Hey everyone
I need your help with a problem I have with my 1jz powered MA61. I've only just put the 1j in after removing it from a crashed 61 (don't ask lol) and now am having some trouble with it when ment to be hitting boost when driving.
It runs fine just makes no boost when it's ment to be boosting.
Need to get this thing right for a drift event coming up soon haha.
Any help would be great thanks in advance guys
Steve.

Well the cars not rego'ed so I can't drive it but dosent overheat when sitting like it at idle.
Check the plugs and they were pretty oily with white/sand tips.

sand?
wtf
if the tips of plugs are dogshit white or black as fuck put new plugs in it (BKR6E)
if any of them are SOAKED in oil
you may have a blown oil/compression ring in the engine meaning rebuild time
Yea I changed the spark plugs just then and it seems to be better. So I drove it down the street and back. But now it isn't making any boost. When its trying to make boost it just runs like it used to. Sorta sounds like it's missing or something??
Any ideas?

Vacc/boost leak? check your intercooler pipes.
RA23 - Twincharged
JZZ20 - Daily
take coil packs out and see if there are cracks in the stems
- ma61 + 2jz-gte + v160 + 3.5 torsen
I check the coils when I replaced the plugs and there were no cracks. Also just took the air filter off an covered it with my hand and could hear it getting air from anywhere else.
????
Thanks

intercooler & piping - check, must be loose clamp or something's disconnected.
^^ yep try this
and when you checked the coilpacks did you actually TAKE the rubber blue bootie boots off and see if there was cracks there leading up the "shaft" of it
Nah I didn't but I will if changing the fuel pump dosent fix it which is what I'm doing tomorrow
Thanks heaps for the help so far guys.

Yea well I have one that I know works fine. And when I took the current one out it looked like it had been tampered with so I changed to the good one and haven't been able to check if it's fixes anything yet. But fingers crossed

mine was doing a very similar thing and it was crack ic pipe and a loose boost controller hose.hope ya get it sorted mate
Ryley that may be my problem. I'm using the same intercooler out of the car which had the front on accident. Maybe it's got a crack somewhere I can't see. Any tricks to find out if there are any holes?
Cheers for the help.
