    Default AW11 + SC14, few questions?

Hey guys, I have an AW11 with a map sensored GZE. My plan is in about six months to take the car off the road and do a full SC14 conversion. At the same time I am going to fit larger cams, swap to a bigport head, swap to a N/A intake manifold and install an aftermarket ECU.

At the moment I am getting all my parts together. I have an SC14(stupid previa one), bigport head and cams. I've been searching the forums for a while for a few answers to some questions I have.

Firstly, is it wise to ditch the ABV completely? I was going to get rid of it for simplicity and ditch the SC14 clutch at the same time. Yes I know the fuel comsumption will go up but is there any performance reason to keep it all there?

Secondly, with a N/A intake manifold, where is the best place to set up the throttle body? I was thinking right on the end of the intake plenum, but where does all the air from the SC go when the throttle is suddenly closed?

I know I have probably just answered the first question but i want to be sure.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

you will need a blow off/bypass valve of some sort if you use an n/a throttle body

removal of the abv will allow you to run more boost but will destroy any semblance of fuel economy and the car will not like running at constant speed on the highway

removing the s/c clutch is a bad idea for longevity of your supercharger, plus it will hurt economy even more than removing the abv

Thanks for that. Guess i'll have to rethink what i was planning.

One more question though. What is the easiest way to plumb in an ABV if I want to ditch the original TB? How have other people done it?

check dave101's thread in the members rides section to see how he adapted a wastegate for use as an intake abv

Thanks, just saw that one earlier today. Certainly fixes the problem. I'll give it some more thought. If I can somehow fit the factory unit back into the system, i'll try that first. I want to avoid 'flashy' things like wastegates which can be spotted by cops and the like.

Thanks again for your help. When i get to it, i'll start a thread in members' rides for my own Adub.
