RA65 Suspension mods questions

Hi all,

I’ve been doing some research on suspension setups for my RA65 celica. I wanted to ask some questions in regards to this. I want to set the car up for tarmac work along with being my daily drive.

Springs- What spring rates are people running? I was thinking to run 30-40% stiffer than standard with a 2-2.5 inch drop, opinions? With a 2-2.5 inch drop all round how hard will the rear end neg out? 3-4*??

Shocks- What shocks are commonly used. From what I’ve gathered SW20 MR2 stuff works ok in the front end but is there anything else worth considering? I’ve got no idea about the rear. If there is one part of the suspension I want to get right it’s this.

Front LCA- Apparently sigma LCAs will give the front end like 1.5-2* neg camber. Truth?

Bushes- Who what where and when?

Brake pads- What is available that’s decent?

Sorry for all the questions, I’m just trying to get an idea on what’s been done before I start throwing money at it.

Sigma LCAs do work. IIRC they are 30mm longer than standard.

Bushes, go to Superpro.

If your car is manual and you have the longer non-powersteering arms, put the shorter powersteering arms in from the same model for a quicker steering ratio.

Shocks, check out celicasupra.com. Most ppl prefer AGX's.

bushes from super cheap 'super pro' brand are about $250 all up.

my bad, just did a search on supercheapauto parts guide and total comes to around $340

I remember getting nolathane bushes for my whole car for my skyline for around $250 so its probably about right. that was through a mate who works at veales though. Retail is gonna be a bit more. suck up to someone for mates rates to get em cheaper.

Ah okay. Superpro also do the 2 rear subframe bushes which are exxy (4 big bushes in total) and you still need the rear swaybar bushes. Check my MA61 parts guide link below for information about the rear swaybar bushes.

mate i have a ma61 and i use borgue shocks with v6 camry springs and it is frigan stiff as but yet realy smooth.lowered it about 3inch.for the rear i have EL super heavy springs with VS commodore tow pack shocks(everything that i have has cost me no more than $200)i drift mine and it is a realy good combination if u r a bit like me and have no money lol.
