Default 4agze & modified intakes/water2air/tb post sc Questions.

    Hi guys/girls

From the replies in the previous thread, it seems that my intake tract needs looking at for the SC14 to play nice on the 4agze (in AE86).

I am getting a rwd bp manifold with a bored out tb to 60mm. So that should take care of one issue.

As far as i see it i have 2 options to get rid of the 'over the motor' setup

    1. A same side in/out intercooler

Pro's: lite, simple and shorter piping.
Con's: Have to cut up my radiator support.

    2. a W2A setup with heat exchanger

Pro's: VERY short intake piping, better performance on the street
Con's: Heavier and more complex than A2A setup.

I'm kind of leaning towards number 2 because i think it would work perfectly with the 4agze setup and would potentially work better on the street. I think there would only be 10-15kg difference MAX after taking the massive FMIC and steel piping it currently has. Any horrible downfalls i have overlooked? or for and against?

Secondly with this setup I will lose the suction pipe and thus the 'factory' mounting of the ABV. If i decided to keep the throttle body pre SC then i could just weld in a new mount for it. BUT because i like the hard way and think that it would look neater i would like to keep the TB post SC.

Now ideally I would need something to vent boost with closed throttle as well as and ABV as per factory. Currently my SC clutch is set to engage in a certain KPA while above 2000rpm using a hysteric input on my adaptronic. So there wouldnt be alot of time spent venting sc air all the time.

So my question is, is there a magical all in one beast that can:

-Vent charged air when tps is 0% and positive pressure exists. (BOV)
-open air bypass when kpa is below 100 and SC clutch is disengaged (ABV).

I was thinking some type of butterfly valve that could be operated with either an electronic solenoid or vacuum based solenoid. Hopefully i would be able to control this using hysteric inputs in the adaptronic.

Any suggestions as to what i could use? Especially without lots of customised electronics/parts?

    cheers

    Daniel.

In regards to the water to air, for me the simplified piping offset any complexity issues and weight increase is not really much more than the weight of the water (about 3l in my case). Works a treat.

cheers for the reply. What pump do you run? Do you vary the speed on vs off boost? W2A seems a much nicer way to go even in a rwd car.
