importing/selling stuff

Hi guys, I'm new here so dont want to step on anybodys toes, so am looking for advice here.

I can get stuff from japan considerably cheaper than it seems to be available here, electronics mainly so things like ecu's, apexi power fc's and the like, double din JDM head units, defi gauges or any gauges really, and small mechanical parts. New and second hand. Parts would generally arrive here a week or two after they're ordered...


How would I go about making this service available to members, as I know there are restrictions on selling stuff here, especially stuff you dont already own.

Any help would be appreciated!

Contact a moderator mate be your best bet. Maybe hard but though due to your new to the community. Possibly run ebay auctions or something and just let us know whats on special this week (like a store).

Or arrange a group buy for certian items, i know im going to be in the market for some gauges soon

hey bud just become a forum sponsor and you can get a banner ad up and launch your range in the sponsors section. Not sure if it may effect any existing businesses here tho so best to ask the board and send a PM to thetoyman75.

Thanks for the advice guys but here's my problem, I dont as of yet have the capital to start a store, it'd have to be done on an item by item basis.

So say someone's looking for a part, and doesnt wanna pay big money here, they get on to me, I get in touch with my friends in the land of the rising sun and sus it out. I go back to the person a day or two later with a price when i find the part, if they like it i take a deposit, order the part, and when it arrives a week or two later deliver it to the buyer personally and get the remainder of the payment...

I wouldnt need a banner or anything just an ad in my sig with a phone number, then it could all be done over the phone or via pm....

I also would have no problem making a donation to toymods for letting me do this!

Again I dont want to break the rules and come across all gung ho, hence this thread!

rather than start a new thread, i have been wondering for a while about selling custom parts that i sometimes make

for example, i did a run of twin swaybar mounting brackets for the boys over on toyotacressida.net after the popularity of the ones i made for my own cars..... if i had a few sets left over and posted them up here would that violate the for sale rules???

generally yes, if it is for profit.. often it is ok, if for the love of the game

case by case basis, send a message to the board so it can be discussed at the next board meeting

the material doesnt represent much of the final price but for the time involved they are a steal to buy and a burden for me to make.... not exactly a profit turner but people love em so i keep making em. anything to help cressida population lose its boat driver status lol

if i end up stuck with some i will send a message to the board and sort it out then

Make sure you have public liability insurance.

Also bear in mind that, as the importer of goods, you may under local law be classed as the 'manufacturer' and therefore liable for any defects, consequential loss, etc... as such a broadform public & products liability may be more appropriate.
