Hey guys,

Some of you may know i am an apprentice engine conditioner

Well i thought i would share my tafe project with you guys (being a toyota and all)

so pretty much over my 2nd and 3rd year we have all been givin an engine each (everyone got 3k/4k's) and there was one 3s to build (lucky me)

so these engines are fully reco'd and all the machine work done by us at tafe

what was involved

-get engines
-fully disassemble
-clean all parts

than machine engines to suit
-crank ground and fully indexed (my 3s went to 020" undersize mains and 010" pins )
-block bored and honed 020" oversize
-closed and honed main tunnel
-closed and honed conrods and aligned
-16 valve head service and tappets set
-new gaskets seals fitted everywhere

engines were than dummy assembled and machined again to gain aqquired compression
(we were told a realistic comp ratio and had to make the motor that) ours ended up around 9.4:1

than final assembley was done

and today we got to run the beast 3s

now the 3s being an efi unlike the rest of the engines built meant we didnt have the facilities to run the injection so me and one of the head mechanic teachers came up with a rediculous idea

and there ya go

but how where we going to get spark ?? easy

this ecu was on a ignition simulator in the mechanic section to show the mechanics how a basic dizzy stye ignition system works but anyway all it is just using the ecu for spark only

so we set the engine up on a gettho as engine stand (with super strength engine mount/strap )

than we attached our flexplate bellhousing and starter

than we fired her up

so i hope you enjoyed my su powerd 3s
