Andrew - definitely interested. Will send you a PM.

Will need to do a cleanup in my own shed to fit it in, but that's life.

One hurdle holding me back is my Historic rego. VicRoads still have not decided what mods are acceptable under the revised scheme. I don't want to start the conversion and end up on full rego.

They have to accrew enough for nose reconstructions as well as feeding his mime family. The dont talk much so they never need much water for their dry mouths.

The Moke (+ Corona and MR2) has Historic or Club Permit registration, which is $128 a year for 90 days use on a logbook system. It's only available to 25+ year old cars and what mods are allowed is still under review.

If doing the conversion means going back to full rego (approx $580) it's a bit of a joy-killer. (Yes, I'm a tight-ass!)

That is a big difference in price.. although with a 1nz you might be tempted to use it for more than 90 days..

I don't know enough about the restrictions of historic rego but would imagine engine conversions are a no no.

River might know.. although vic and nsw could be different, knowing our country.

VIC and NSW are very different systems. There are some pretty radical cars out there on Club Permit plates. Nobody is sure if those cars will be allowed to remain on Club Permit.

1NZ is a ripper peppy lil motor, factor in a few options like supercharging ie: Blitz / Greddy / Jimze these will quite easily make 120kw at the engine without issue.

Jump onto the Yarisworld forums there's so much info. covering the 1NZ and further options.

As others have posted makeusre you grab everything and anything.

    Hello
My engine came with harness and a ecu but I am not interested in trying to muck around with the factory stuff. Too much mucking around. I will use an aftermarket computer like an adaptronic. It means a clean wiring harness for the engine and a seperate loom for the body which will be basically Moke. There is just too much going on wiring wise with a Yaris.

no worries mate... looks like this. it mounts on the subframe, body and castor bar and has adjustable legs. not pretty but it does the job!

more info on the new historic rego rules can be found here:
    http://toymods.org.au/forums/showthr...-system-in-vic

basically my understanding that it either has to be ok'd by the club inspector (ie stop, steer and have lights), or have RWC depending on the club. i believe the mini club is pretty easy going, not sure about the moke club
There is no substitute for PUBIC inches

    Never late in an x8

Thanks Andrew. Rough or not, it will be very useful!

The Mini and Moke clubs both require a full RWC. But my Moke is actually registered through the Toyota Car Club Australia (Vic) who do their own inspections.

I am familiar with the rules of the current scheme and know that the subject of mods is under review:

Not the "greyness" of the answers to questions six and fifteen! There is more on modifications in the VicRoads text file and AOMC explanatory notes.

    Cheers,
    Brett.

Hey are you sure you thought about the diff ratios? The 4.3 should be perfect. A moke has that ratio but does not have an extra gear in the gearbox. Would make its great off the lights with that and still good on the highway.

Bike motors are very hard to get legal here, especially if you have no reverse!

Actually one of the reasons I haven't gone any farther with the 1NZ swap is because I bought a hybrid motor - a 16 valve twin cam Honda bike head on a heavily modified Mini block and gearbox. I want to see how that goes first.

    This is my actual engine:
