Question Lighting problems following engine swap into RA28

    Hi guys,

1G-GZE swap into my A28 celica was completed late last year just before I went to Europe for 9 months. Noticed immediately that several lighting problems were evident. Now that I'm back it's pressing to get them fixed so that I can drive the car at night as well as during the day.

    Dash lights not working
Parker lights not working (headlights are though)
Taillights not working (brake lights are though)

    Some things I have checked:

    Wiring connections tested with multimeter
    Fuses checked

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Jimmy.

dash, park and taillights are all on the same circuit.

maybe a wire has been squished and grounded somewhere?

pull out the fuse and check for 12V on the hot side. then check the otherside for a short to ground

you either have no power from batt to fuse to switch to lights....
OR, you have a short somewhere to ground (which should blow the fuse)

    hi
the first thing you should do is ditch the multi meter and use a test light with a globe (not led). why? because a multimeter well give you a voltage with out loading the circuit which will give you a false reading.
as said before the tail lights, park lamps and dash lights come from the same power source, turn on the lights and then start checking from the fuse , does this vehicle have glass fuses, if so test the fuse on the holder instead of the fuse its self. it may just be the switch, but just work along like looking for water in a pipe.
    good luck

Jimmy good to hear you are back! You havent driven your car for so long maybe there are a few redback spiders in the harnes and under the seats? Seriously does sound like you may have a broken wire in a hard to find spot. may also be a relay that is playing up. PM me if you have no joy and I may be able to slip over before I fly back up north.
