    Default 4AGZE Tuning

I seem to be at the edge of the factory computers fuelling capabilities for an sc14, NA inlet etc with a mid range AF ratio in mid 12’s. From what i’ve read the factory computer cannot be flashed and i know the best thing to do is a full aftermarket ecu but like most people it’s a little out of the price range.

Has anyone had any luck with interceptors?

    What are my options?

    Thanks,
    Vic.

people have run piggybacks before but there have been quite a few reports that the 4A ecu quickly "learns" and readjusts it's map, thus making the computer useless.

interceptors arent really great value for money anymore anyways. for a couple hundred more you can get a decent aftermarket ecu on it and unlock a lot more potential for the future

i dont rate an interceptor on a GZE ECU.
I ran an e-manage on a GZE ecu with a turbo'ed 4age.... and the stupid knock sensor would pick up almost any teeny weeny engine noise (that wasnt engine knock, btw), and would retard the timing to buggery. Nothing the interceptor could do about it.

Considering the price of a good interceptor is around $600-700, and the price of something like the Adaptronic being around $1000 (from memory)..... i know which one i would chose!!

An Adaptronic, or other decent stand-alone ECU, is the winner hands down EVERY time.
You will get way more power, economy, and driveability out of it compared to an interceptor.
Yes the initial cost and tuning might be a little more, but you will save way more money in the long run with lower fuel bills, and less farking around trying to "band-aid" the interceptor to work better.

Do it right the first time.

I know a full ecu is the right thing to do, got to stop taking short cuts and save some money.

    thanks guys.

Haltech PSprint 500 will cost you 1k with a 2.5m flying loom, if your able to read a wiring diagram and think your capable of installing it yourself it could be done fairly cheaply. I ran a PS500 on a 4agze with 440cc inj, 175mm crank pulley and a fmic with very good results, i never got it to the dyno as i decided i wanted a turbo.

~$600 for a full wideband O2 sensor kit and some good hard reading could see you tuning most of the map yourself.

Wiring is the easy part and i have a wideband sensor and display so it's time to start saving.

    thanks again.
