Does anybody know what voltage toyota knock sensors output normally (when knocking/detonation is not occuring). I've heard that its a 0-5v sensor that averages about 2.5v but im not sure if that's true or not, if you know or have any theories please speak up!

cheers that helps me understand how knock sensors work a bit better. I just need to know what voltage or voltage range they output so I can bypass it.
Bypass it?

piezo output is usually filtered such that only vltage spikes associated with knock make it thru the filter, and trigger a signal in the ECU (afaik?)
so during normal running there is no signal...
i am not sure if the ECU checks for resistance/impedance/whatver of the sensor to see if it is still there or not, but a good start would be to disconnect it and see what happens
or, connect knock sensor and not connect it to the engine.... (may possibly need to earth the casing?)
