oil pumps are the same until you get to gen 3 motors.
Water pumps are (i think) the same. Check the Toyodiy.com site
Hello all! I have acquired an ST162 1986 Celica with a 3s-ge motor which has siezed.
The questions I wish to put forward are: Is there a difference between the fe and ge motor as in the block, pistons, crank, oil pump and water pump? Will the "G" head bolt on to the "F" block and if so is the valve to piston relationship still "Non-Iterference"? The reason I ask is the camry block is a lot more plentiful. Also does the 3s-ge motor have a problem with oiling the bottom end and can a person acquire a high volume oil pump to help compensate?
Any advice or help in these matters would be of great help. Thanx for listening.

plenty of people fit 3sge head to 5sfe blocks so i'd say the 3sge head will fit the 3sfe block tho i doubt it's been done much as it's a bit of a "why would you?" situation.
but i guess you just wanna get it back on the road cheaply as possible yeh?
the gen1 blocks don't have oil squirter's like the gte blocks (so should keep more pressure) but they don't really have oiling issues anyway.
no idea about interference i'd say it comes down to whether the 3sfe was non int and whether the valves sizes are the same as the GE or not
block same
pistons different (fe 22 degree valve, ge 45)
crank i think is same
oil and water pump should be the same
my memory is hazy but i don't think it will be as simple as just bolting the head from one to the other. i know a lot of the camry guys used to think that'd be a quick cheap conversion but there were issues with how simple the process was. in the end a 3s-ge was just easier to get.
oiling has known to be an issue but it also depends what you are doing. if it's just a daily commuter car then you'll be fine.
Thanks for the help. The car is being handed over to the daughter when she gets her license hence the need for a standard (non modified) car as in VIC "P" platers are not allowed to drive modified or boosted cars. I will however keep on looking into the oiling problem and will let you know the results.
