I am sure the Unicorn made it to at least one Toyota fest and if ever there was a unfinished car it is that one.

I'll be there this weekend with the Celica and bringing another celica along too.

Greg, thanks for the heads but about it on Saturday night. I haven't been online in a while due to the little one so I would have missed it.

    Cheers

The Unicorn got pushed into the first 2 ToyotaFest shows.

Any Toyota of Interest is welcome at the show, they dont need to be complete or running.

Might have to drag my mate's Lite Stout out of his paddock. Should I leave all the weeds in the engine bay?

    Cheers, Greg.

1/. On way to the car club I got called away 200K to Warrnambool to fix SBS TV transmitter.
Left Casterton at 530pm and got to Warnambool at 730pm as I was flying down the Koroit Road overhauling a FWD it turned out to be the local law. -$165.00

2/. Called mate at car club to get Permit to drive to NSW only to find that the permit officer has gone to some folk/groupie festival at Mildura.

3/. Thought I could alert the WA Supra guys to pick it up 4 me in Mildura but the dork did not have the book with him (why would he).

4/ Today fixed trailer dolly wheel but could not unbolt the stuffed winch so if the Corona breaks down and cant be driven will never get it back on the trailer,

5/. Havent finished the trailer power plug on the new RAV tow car.

6/. Cant get the old clearance lights for the trailer so cutting and drilling tomorrow.

7/. 3 of the 4 tyres flat and need replacing.

8/. Gotta get a VICROADS unregistered permit to drive but they only work as far as border and if you are driving back to VICTORIA, so if I cross the border North bound and get pulled over I will have to fast talk my way out of going the wrong way?

9/. Just got told one of the techs coming to work location has shoulder reconstruction so I am required from midnight Monday overnight next week for M, T and Wed.
Cant imagine leaving castle Hill at 300pm and getting home 1100k away after driving to the trailer and then getting enough sleep on Monday.
Even in the good old days in the Corona GT we left Bathurst on Oct 10th 1977 after Bathurst exibition of the SAL Rally cars and in tandem with the LEVIN, it took 8 hours cruising at and above the 65 MPH primea facia limit to reach Horsham let alone down Kangaroo Alley B

10/ Deni Ute muster on the planned route 20,000 utes.
All roads lead to Deni get in early

11/. No accomodation at Bathurst, or Orange or Cowra all booked out SAT NIGHT AND SUNDAY NIGHT
    RACE WEEK BATHURST.

12/. Every COP in 1000 miles heading for the highways and byways around Bathurst on the Newell and down at DENI..

So what I am trying to say is SEE U AT THE NATIONALS AT EASTER.

People just a thought why don't we have in good taste comedy awards such as: The biggest 80's rust bucket.

Also we should really cater for the young drivers by having best P plater car awards. From best P plater car overall to best classic Toyota etc. There is a whole awards category we could open up to encourage more of the younger crowd who feel left out because they can't have turbo's for example. Also the awards you present to them why not make them just a cardboard certificate nothing fancy.

I have to admit I kind of agree with the last bit, that some of the younger ones need to have more encouragement to get their vehicles on display. Although they feel they have nothing fancy, and might only have a work in progress, we could get them entering their rides just for the hell of being part of a big Toyota display, and start getting them in amongst it. Admittedly, as a bare minimum they need to have some kind of 'interesting' factor, but the younger breed need a bit of a nudge methinks.

If we couldn't do something at this stage, and I admit it's a bit late right now, maybe it could be something to take on board for the next show?

Young drivers are a whole new demographic we can encourage and expand upon to increase our shows turnout. Also you must consider the positive implications of doing this because if a young person who might not think his Toyota is cool displays his car then he will probably get alot of comments from older folk remarking how cool it is. I can assure you that this kind of appreciation made me a 1st and foremost Toyota person.

The reverse logic of that being my car club who look down their noses at anything later than a 1960 classic or the RACV who don't accept cars after 1960 for their classic cruises.

Also the modern of today is the classic of tomorrow.

Was also discussing with a Toyota old school dealer last night just what is around these days and we could not name any classics for sale in the west of the state.

The only reason that my GT and Rivers GT exist today is cos a couple of old school made a decision to keep and preserve, despite in my case my own GEN Y kids totally snubbing my efforts.

When I pass on the GT unless rescued will be sold by my kids to the first buyer with silver.

I just gave away my KE25 as I did not get one expression of interest off these pages, purported to be the home of the movers and shakers and those with preservation fore-site.

Hey hey, dont tar all us Gen Y's with the same brush! I'd love to inherit a GT my dad owned, id treat it better than my own car!

I would be happily taking my parents celica off their hands to fix up and keep but I just cannot logistically do it Wish they had of just given it to me 8 years ago when I was looking for my first celica and said I wanted it, but I couldnt convince them it was the only way that car was going to live again... well I showed them didnt I!
