I am new to the site and what a world of information you have here. Great work.
My delima is a have just purchased a straight and clean rn85 1990 rwd hilux for next to nothing. It will be my sons car in a few years when he starts his carpentry apprenticeship,
but i am enjoying driving it around for now. Altho its a great little unit it only has a 2y engine and a very sloppy 4 speed box. As the engine runs well now i dont want to carry out a performance engine conversion until my son has had a few years driving experience.
But that 4 speed box HAS to go!!! The trans code is L40 it has an off set shifter and exits the side of the box? Has anyone done a simple 5-speed conversion? if so what box is the easiset to fit i have heard W50 or W52 is a straight job but love to hear from someone
who has done it before i purchase a box.
