Sounds like a good idea for Northside Brisbane folks.
I've cross-posted it to the TCCQ forum.
Hey guys, I'm sure most of you have either been to or have heard of Munchies and Harry's as being THE spots to hang out if you have a 'classic' car on a Friday night. After witnessing the bullshit behaviour/mentality displayed by a large range of people at Munchies (particularly Commodore drivers), a few mates of mine decided to head to Harry's Diner on the northside. Now this used to be THE place to hang out, but sadly has declined over the years. I got into talks with the owner/manager of Harry's and we started discussing new ways of getting a crowd in. What we've come up with is pretty basic and I think a good idea - people who are cruising there and have heard about it from me get some specials/bonuses when you buy meals (ie. $1 gets you a serve of chips with every burger, or you get a free slushie, etc) that will only be available for a limited period of time. The way it's organised is we decide a codeword for the week, and everybody who has a pre-'85 car (of any description) gets told what it is through either this thread, emailed to you or can be posted up through a Facebook group or similar. You simply say the codeword at the counter and you choose whatever deal you want.
To see what sort of support a system like this would get, I am asking everybody with a pre-'85 car to make this Friday night (5th of March) free and rock up to Harry's at around 7.30. Now, if you have a post-'85 car you are still more than welcome to come, however I ask that you park around the back (there is shitloads of room) so we don't end up with a Fiesta or something similar parked right in the middle of a heap of classic cars.
Any bullshit behaviour won't be tolerated, we have the full support of the police (they are likely to drive around through the night) and as long as you're not doing something silly, I daresay they won't even bat an eyelid at you. There is a cop who regularly attends the import night meets there and is yet to defect or warn a single person, he spends most of his time walking around and talking to people about their cars. If you do something stupid (ie. ANYTHING that could give the place a bad name), the police will be called and your details will be taken down. Obviously, something like a spirited take-off when you leave is fine provided you don't break too much traction or cause any problems to other drivers.
Cliffs: Around 7.30pm this Friday night at Harry's Diner (Shop 14 104 Newmarket Rd Windsor). If you have a pre-85 car park in the 'main' carpark behind the diner, if you have something else can you please park it around the back. I will post up the specifics of the specials just for us later on when I hear back from the owner.
Hope to see all you guys there![]()
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

You've mentioned pre-'85 and post-'85. What about a car made *in* 85?
Don't mean to be a smartass, but merely wondering where I'd fit if I was to come along.
I'm sure we can make a special allowance just for you
I'm actually not able to make it this week, but have a mate who is going and will be looking after stuff for me.

Hmmm. Rocked up, carpark was totally empty except for a few late model econoboxes and a black valiant pacer.![]()
Ah damnit, completely forgot to post in here. If it's raining, it's not on - most of the guys I've been with in the past absolutely refuse to take their cars out in the rain.

Figured that might be the case. Oh well, no harm done.![]()
Guys, finally have the deals organised for people with us. To 'moderate' who gets the benefits of them, I've created this Facebook group.

Click to join, I do believe you have the option of saying things from when you go to join; just say who you are, what car you have and what forum and I'll let you right on in.
Hope to see you there this Friday night.

Same deal. Didn't give me any opportunity to say anything.
It's alright, figured out who people are. If you just wanna post in here in the future I'll work it out from that.

What about cars like the AW11 where it was made 84 - 89?
Can I squeeze mine in with the 84/85's despite it being an 89 AW11![]()
Just saw all the photos on the facebook page. Sadly I don't think my Simmons are going to be looking that clean tomorrow. I'll be at uni for most of the day and it'll take a solid couple of hours to get my wheels looking half as good.
Oh well I'll still be there either way. Just tell me to f-off to the back car-park if the supra is ruining the scenery.![]()
