    Default Ke70 Driving lights?

    Hi

im gonna hook up a driving light relay to my ke70.

I would like the drivinglights to come on after the car is started, so they dont stay on while im cranking it. Is this possible? i was thinking maybe i could hook it up to the alternator and the relay then get signal when the cars up and running.

is it possible? thoughts and suggestions is appriciated as always.

    Thanks in advance

put a normally closed relay so that it gets power from the starter relay and opens during cranking

IGN signal is on during crank .. or should be.

I thought you needed to have a switch fitted to driving lights so you can turn them off, or else you can get a defect notice slapped on your car.

This is true. And is probably easier putting a switch in anyway.

I thought thre were two ignition signals off the barrel, one on even when cranking and the other switches off during cranking. Been a while since I wired stuff into a KE70 though, something to do with the ballast resistor setup from memory. Multi-meter will soon tell you.

i can't remember exactly, but if it has it with the two IGN, it can hiccup when going from start to ign, as they probably aren't make-then-break switches.

but there MUST be some IGN type power to the coil during START, otherwise the engine isn't going to start

but the point would be to use the START line to power relay to disconnect power to the lights during starting, regardless of what IGN configuration it has..

Yeah relay is probably best plan, I think the coil is fed direct from the start circuit rather than IGN when cranking though in order bypass the ballast resistor and boost the spark.

get the LED strip type. will draw very little current so cranking shouldn't be effected. heaps of vans and shit have them around here. plus the LED will be more noticeable of a day time without actually possibly effecting other drivers visibility.

not sure that having headlights on during the day i illegal in australia, i thought it was more specific to foglights?
