    Default 1990 ST185 GT-Four chugging

hi all, first post, i have owned a 1990 celica gt-four for the good part of 8 years now, and it has been headache after headache since owning it, i love the car, but cannot find a good reliable mechanic to fix/tune it up, my latest issue is that when it hits boost (stock) it chugs and surges i can still hear the turbo spooling through this chug it sounds like its coming from directly under my feet, has anyone ever experienced this before??

on another note my engine has close to 240,000Kms on it and i'm thinking of a new engine rebuild who are some good reliable sources in the Melbourne area to source me a good JDM motor and a workshop to perform the modifications .

    thank you for your time,

ahh gtfours they are wonderous things for headaches sometimes.

sounds like its missing, when was it last serviced?

As for workshops ive only used one in melb when i got my car tuned there. Cant reccommend highly enough.

Unfortunately the best mechanic for these cars is yourself

Are you still running the standard dump pipe? maybe your cat has imploded?

thanks onall-four, that's the idea one of my mechanics had, I'll take it past an exhaust shop in the coming days, whats a good size for a stock gt4, i have an electronic boost controller here for it that hasn't been fitted, and what boost can the stock motors handle.

    cheers
