1GGTE losing 3L of oil daily, but no obvious leak or smoke?

hey all

ive got a 1ggte GA70 that ive been driving with no probs for months now but over the past 2days ive noticed ive been losing heaps of oil :S

it does have a really small leak from the front of the motor that i believe is just a issue with the oil pump but its only like 2 drops a week or less.
ive run the motor and checked it again and the level has stayed the same it so its not something stupid like a blockage. and ive checked and there isnt any puddles, no smoke on idle, no issues with stuff like BHG as everything there is clean

my main worry is one dude from work said that one day as we were leaving, when i was on boost i was blowing the usual blue smoke that comes with a blown turbo (and usual for 1g/1j twins) but ive never seen it, ive driven past a mate on boost and he hasnt seen anything either so yeah

main Q is if i do have a blown rear turbo would it be normal for it to lose so much oil into the exhaust but not burn it (ie be soaked in the cat?) or something like that.

could be. worth droppign th dump/cat and looking in..

3L of oil take up a lot of volume tho! but it has to be going somewhere

yeah, well it was just under full on thursday just after work, ive done around 200kms since then and so i checked it today and it was just above empty, ill have to unbolt t he cat and have a look but ive not seen any smoke myself, but only been told by one person so yeah

Well from full mark to empty mark is usually about 1L so its not really 3L per day.

really? i thought it was basicly E=under a litre left F=full sump..

nah thats tru, from the lower mark to the full mark on the dipstick is usually around 1litre, some cars its a tiny bit more like 1.2 or 1.5 litres..

remember when you put oil in your motor you sometimes have to wait up to 10minutes to get the correct reading on the dipstick because the oil has to travel slowly to the sump..

in saying that my 1g uses oil and i know that, its cos a little bit of bluey/black smoke on boost and ive just put it down to a worn motor, mines done 190,000k's tho..

Well still, 1L Per day is Alarming.

No leaks around the bellhousing? Could be rear engine oil seal pouring oil out.

no obvious ones, i have a massive PS leak still but its obvious the differece in texture and color, it doesnt drip anything onto the ground and its not entirely obvious when its on boost as i cant see it from in the car, day or night with tailights behind me to make it more obvious so yeah

ill keep an eye on it for nwo and see how it goes but i might have to remove the dump next weekend and see if its shitty or not

remove an intercooler pipe too and check for oil

well to sum things up....

filled my sump (to F mark) on sunday, have driven around 300kms since and not dropped below where it was when filled. i checked my intercooler and apart from a usual amount of oil (for my 1g anyways ) there isnt a unusual amount in the intercooler or pipes.
still no smoke EVER, i mean i had a mate follow me and i went on boost soft, on hard, right to redline on and off boost slowly and fast and he never saw anything!

so proplem solved......i think :S once my commodore's suspesion is fixed i think ill remove the motor and put a VRS kit thru it as there is shti everywhere

well its not

sitting on the highway today i could randomly smell it so when i got home i left the motor running for a minute and turned it off and sure enough randomly if you have your head near the turbos you will smell oil burn and then see the smallllllllest amount of smoke so yeah, i might have to remove the turbos and have a good look/overhaul it all

Wait a minute, you said loses 3L of oil a day (More like 1L or so since it was high to low), and then you drove 300km and it didn't lose any?
