Exclamation Engine Replacement for a Mark II Corona

The engine of my Toyota Corona Mark II Coupe a 4M-EU (the car had an engine swap somewhere along the line before i got it) has began to blow a fair amout of smoke and it needs something done about it. The engine would need a rebuild, but that seems like a rather costly prospect (though does anyone have a resonable idea of exactly how much??), I was wondering if it would be cheaper to get a replacement for the car. If so what would u guys recomend?? as much info that you can give would be great anything would be a help.
    thanks.

JZ is your friend. For a substantial upgrade and practical long lived, cheap daily solution, 2JZGE. For a bit of power, 1 or 2JZGTE. For more fun, 1 or 2JZGTE with some decent upgrades.

I think this is what you are after. had the same engine as your car.
I know the models arent the same, but there would probably be some similarities there!

    check it out!

As Rob said, depends on your budget.
Anything from the M series is pretty much a bolt in procedure.
There are several people on the forums who have performed conversions on mk2's, all of whom im sure will chime in.
Gianttomato is the nutter of the bunch

I'm guessing yours is the one from ebay about 3 weeks ago??

At the moment im kicking around about 1500, but that goes up its more of a matter of what i need and saving for it. But cheap options are always good.oh yer and its the one of ebay.

I would probably just get a replacement 4M for the time being, and save up for a while.

For a budget option I'd go for a 5M-E, it's a modest upgrade from the 4M but probably easier to find and dirt cheap because no-one really wants them. I have a feeling you could even leave your existing manifolds and electronics, just swap the long motor and you're good to go.

a friend of mine uses 4m manifolds etc on a 5m head so i suspect this would work. No worries with re-wiring it or use of a comp etc...
