    Default 3sgte question

    hey guys

    researching for my next project

does anyone know if the 3sgte came out in a rear wheel drive?
if not, will the gearbox from a 3sge bolt up to the 3sgte?
is there any differences in the block? engine mounts etc

    cheers

technically the 3sgte came in rwd in the mr2 sw20, but it's still mounted east/west like a fwd car. i'm presuming your asking if it ever came in a FR layout(front engined rwd) in that case no.

the only 3s motor that came like this is the 3sge blacktop veams as found in the lexus, this was NA.

the 3sgte will bolt up to any 3s gear box and generally all mounting hardware will swap over if your keeping it FF/MR, going to FR layout i'm not sure.

thanks, exactly what i was wondering

i was considering a beams motor + turbo but at 11.5 compression i dont think it would last to long.

They used a 3sgte rear drive layout in the JGTC 300 for the Supra in Japan.
Not sure what they did to it though.

it's actually a special engine, 503E altho they put 3sgte on the signs for them. look at the eng closely and you'll see it's not a 3s derived motor at all.

there are plenty of people that have setup 3sgte motor's for rwd.
