Ummm, not sure which route you are planning to take, but Crookwell to Caloola has approx 12kms of dirt road between them

Generally it is in pretty good nick as far as dirt roads go, have driven the Celica and AW11 on it, but just in case you didn't realise.

Bloody good point Roundy! We will have to look at an alternate route as Im not keen at all to take any of my cars on dirt. Maybe Trunkey Creek to Blamey? Any suggestions?

So you and that speedster Ness married yet mate?

We are indeed, the weekend after Toyota Nationals

The dirt is between Crookwell and Trunkey Creek, really no easy way to avoid it as far as i am aware.

There is basically 3 ways to go to Bathurst in my mind.

You can head via Crookwell with the 12kms of dirt.

Go via Booroowa, Cowra, Blayney, but i am sure you all know that road from Toyota Nationals, hardly the most thrilling

Or you can head to Goulburn, Taralga, Oberon then to Bathurst which is all sealed, little rough in places, and a narrow at the section down to and back up from the Abercrombie River, but alright during the day.

Great to hear mate. Now if you can only stop Ness bragging about kicking my ass at the Dubbo drags Ill be a happy boy haha!

I like the idea of a different route for a change so the Goulburn, Taralga, Oberon to Bathurst way is looking good. I havnt been to the Abercrombie area since I visted the Caves way back when I was a kid. Really worth a visit if we had the time but we wont this trip me thinks.
    Thanks again for the advice!
    Cheers

Sorry the dirt road was my idea as it was the route we took to the last FoSC event at Bathurst.

Its a fun drive but your right Mitch not very good for those show pony cars.

Goulburn way sounds like a good one but you might have to change the start point (sorry).

    Cheers

Hey guys looks like a good day, why don't you consider heading out to Yass, Boorowa up to Cowra and into Bathurst from the back of Mount Panorama.

I used to do this road as a rep between Bathurst and ACT and it was really a good driving road up Lachlan Valley Way.

Good points fellas, We have gone the Boorowa/Cowra way many times too and just think for a change we should go the Goulburn/Taralga/Oberon way.

If we confirm this way then Ill change departure to Eagle Hawke.
    Cheers

Well you've got my vote for the Goulburn way mainly because it will be something new for us well traveled ACTians.

Willofan you are right in the fact that the Cowra drive is much nicer by far but most of the Canberra guy's head that way every year for the Toyota Nationals.

    Cheers

Please note the change of meeting place and route!

We will be meeting up at the Eagle Hawke Hotel on the Federal Highway at 7am, leaving at 7.30am sharp to head out via Goulburn, then north to Taralga and through Oberon for a change of route to Bathurst.

    Any questions or suggestions...post away!
    cheers

As usual a fair few who are interested but some are daunted by the big day out!

Have listed a few in original post that I am confident in but trying to encourage a few lurkers to make the trip also. As you know we take a very leisurely tempo with our long cruises so as not to stress the drivers or cars.

Sooo...anyone else up for a cruise to the Bathurst Motoring Museum this Sundy???

i think ash is going to ride with Jeremy, thats the impression i got when i delivered his dinner anyway.
i might be bringing david and convincing my mate jake to bring his 95sx (the two blokes you terrorized in tarago)
Ryan from work (other driver) may tag along again (he came to classic celica day) so we can rag on him for having a commodore and try and sway him into buying a celsior instead of a new statesman.

im assuming your feeling better again now mitch? bloody good to hear!
