Default Mx83 Power Steering rack option?

    Hi all,

I have a Grande mx83 s2, has develop some weird steering problem.
Power steering when turning left is fine but right turn seem like it has no power steering. I assume it the steering rack itself because I couldn't see what else could caused it. I have taken it out and might get quote to see how much for reconditioning. It is a jzx81 steering rack with sensitivity sensor?

Now my question is, will a mx83 glx s1 steering rack be use as a replacement? it looks different compare to grande's one.

    cheers,

Im not sure on the exact difference (internals, valving, etc), but the only thing you should be worried about is where the are bolted into the body as everything else externally will be physically the same (mounts, rack ends, input shaft). Is this just to keep your car driving until your get the original fixed?

Also, post up your experience getting it rebuilt as I am looking at getting mine done soon.

The mx83's I've had used a steering damper on the passenger side, all the jzx81 racks dont use a damper and have a different rack end on the passenger side.

as for removing P/S could you just not loop the system into its self? job done? or block the holes?

manuel racks dont have seals, valves and what-nots to accomodate for a pressurised system, this would make it heavy and maybe slow to turn....guessing...

well you are going manual rack it is going to be slow turn.....

i went the opposite. MX73 as it is faster lock to lock then X8 and also has more lock stock.
