Hi guys,
I'm trying a disc option you never talk about.
My KE20 had the "standard" KE70 brake upgrade last year, to a whopping 230mm disc.
It works well in my small car. But the swedish laws for changed vehicles tells me to build bigger if I want power. 260mm is ok up to 180hp, 280mm 210hp, 300mm 240hp. Typo.
And my plan is to build a Volvo-powered 190hp streetlegal toy.
My son bought rims, supposed to be 15s, but the measuring tape told me 16.
My plan was 260mm nissan front disks on every wheel, with Volvo calipers in front and Ford Mondeo rear calipers (vented disc AND hand brake!). But the rims was huge, why not make the brakes bigger?
After a long, long Brembo drawing search I found Ford Focus discs.
Grinding the wheel bolt holes, drilling new mounting holes and a 2mm shims in the front center was needed. But I wanted a flat caliper mount in front, so I tried to mount the disc on the outside of the hub and that looks great! The disc inner dia fits perfectly! And a modern rim's ET needs a spacer anyway.
Starting with the rear now (drums to disc conv), and I'm not needing any shims at rear
But I'm not shure; why dont you guys use this disc? It fits the original strut on Corollas, Celicas, Startlets... Esay conversion, and 260, 280, 300 to 328mm sizes.

43.5 or 48.5mm hat height, and 25mm thick.
Would be pretty good on a lot of conversions. Calipers to suit might be a bit harder, although RX7 with a little bridge could work ok.

Yeah, not overly many Focuses or that chassis optioned in this country. 25mm discs are a bit of an annoyance for calipers.
The most common calipers here for conversions are RX7 for 22mm discs, or Skyline for a 30mm disc.

explanation #2
the tyre diameter is measured from the bead circle of each and every tyre. (same as you would measure the internal diameter of a cylinder)
the tyre bead needs to be locked airtight, therefore wheel manufactuers add extra metal/alloy into the rim build process.
the red sideways arrows indicate where the measurement is taken from.
the red downwards arrows is indicating the measurement direction.

Sorry, frostyadonis, if I offended you.
I understood you and , it was my own measurement I didn't like.
Actually I know how to measure, or at least have knowed...
The 300mm discs isn't too expensive, and I have only drilled one yet. Its not to late to shift to 280mm.
But it might just work anyway, I hope.
