Wink Suitable dual output coils for 4age (direct fire wasted spark)

    Hey ppl.

Ok, I have a 4age in my KE70 project car. Its wired to a Haltech E6A (good old dos tuning) and im very close to getting it started.

I was running dizzy ignition but I hate dizzy. I want to go to direct fire wasted spark and i've 'heard' that Hyundai make a decent dual output coil for about $90.

Can anyone confirm this, or advise of suitable dual output coils to use?

    Cheers

Have heard of Hyundai coils being used on a low-cost V8 build.

They're bosch designs produced under licence. Found in most wrecking yards but a bit large to fit into a trouser pocket.

Coilpacks from a commodore? They have three of the coil packs as shown above for the V6 on one mounting plate.
Common as, so should be cheap.

why don't you use 4 Coil On Plugs? you know you will still have to have most of the dizzy there (albeit minus the cap) to run the ECU unless you re-sensor the engine fairly drastically right?

Spark Mode : The E6A can have multiple ignition outputs. This field indicates if more than
one ignition output is required. See Appendix B - The Advanced Features [B.4] for
more information. The available settings are :
Distributor - This is for a single distributor, single coil ignition system. A slight
variation is the twin spark per cylinder engines, which use two coils and either one or
two distributors, but fire the sparks together.

Twin Distributor - Some V8 and V12 engines use two distributors, one on each bank.
Each distributor has its own coil, and they fire alternately.

Direct Fire -Direct Fire systems do not use a spark distributor. Each spark plug is fired
from its own coil, or (more often than not) companion cylinders are fired together
using twin tower coils Consult Appendix B - The Advanced Features for details on
    the requirements for Direct Fire.

Coils on 4Cyl Motor : It is possible to Direct Fire a 4 cylinder engine with either two coils
firing waste spark or 4 coils without waste spark.. This field tells the ECU to use either
2 ignition outputs or 4. (Consult Appendix B - The Advanced Features for details)

Believe it or not i have seen them quite cheap on eBay from the states (duh) obviously they would have an abundance of them over there i reckon you could net a set of 8 used ones for probs around the 150 + postage mark. I know they go for around the $75AUD mark brand new individually.

    Just use 7MGTE coils.
They are cheap as chips and pack a massive punch.
