....don't bother...use it to sink crab traps or something .....no one wants them as everyone goes for the manual conversion.......i had a one lady owner auto '22 that shat itself and as i didn't have the space or time to do the manual conversion I got the auto box rebuilt...cost me like $900.......i was asking all over the shop if anyone had one and no one did......only in the last few weeks have i seen 2 on ebay......and still no one wants them .......store it in the back of the garage in case some one wants it one day but don't hold your breath.......probably get $20 as scrap metal if nothing else.

A good improvement is to put on a lighter/light or lightened flywheel.

Herb Adams states " taking weight off parts rotating at engine speeds is 15 times more effective than removing static weight from the vehicle". That is, to get a similar performance increase you would need to remove 2kg from the flywheel or 30kgs from the car.
There are lighter flywheels out in the market place. Although I have had good success from having my OEM flywheels lightened, once I overcame loosening flywheel bolts by dowling the flywheel to the crank.

A freshly rebuilt set of 2T-B carbs and manifold is a nice improvement, will give better throttle response, a bit more top end and is different from the norm but hard to find. They can however be troublesome in winter if you ditch the OEM Filter housing and heat piping.

A mild cam 70/40 (the old three quater cam) with 9 or 10mm lift and a shave of the head to bump compression a bit. Double valve springs for safety and 4-1 extractors with a 2-1/4 exhaust.

Best improvement I found was to remove the clutch fan and water pump.
Just grind the water pump internal impella off and install a EWP.
Gives the engine heaps more in the higher RPM.

i to have found lighter flywheels makeing a big difference also (forgot to add that before)
alloy ones can be found, ive not looked much in AUS but there seem to be heaps around in the USA, and can be only $200.

ive found the removing the engine fan make no real differnce in power(that i can feel) but rev;s quicker.

never tryed the water pump removel? what about the added load on the alternator? run a smaller pulley also?

I 3rd the lightened flywheel. I put a TODA 3.5kg flywheel on mine from an already lightened (approx 7kg) stock flywheel and it made a HUGE difference in acceleration with minimal loss of drivability. Actually I think I've still got the lightened stock one and a PBR H/D clutch somewhere. If you're interested PM me I'll have a look for them.

so after all this a little bit of bad news.
As I have said before the car is my son's first car and well I do any work on it because I can.

Well he had a accident on Fri night and smashed the front and at first thought it will be unfixable but have changed my mind.

So I had already bought a new drivers guard and door but now will need a bonnet and bumper bar with associated brackets and some headlight stuff anyway you could imagine.

Also had just picked up the extractors and I am getting them sand blasted ready to paint .

Also was thinking of trying for this "42mm Sidedraft Solex+manifold".

I am not working at the moment so will put the time into this.

So 2 questions how would the above Solex be for the 2T we have this is for our spare motor with 50 k on it? and
Getting some of the front body brackets around grill and lights how are my chances of picking these up?

That would be a good buy. The Solex is a 40mm Type T. Stock jetting will be almost ideal for the 2T up to a mild build 3T.

Linkage maybe a bit tricky to set up but can be adapted to work with a cable pulling on the throttle arm as seen in the pics of the item.

Pull off all the anti-pol gear, and re-kit it and it would serve you well.

It looks like about $250-$270 is a fair bid, but if really keen to get it then with 10 bids it could go for $300.
Bid on it. Then if you get it come back here for help.

    Good luck

    Regards

    Rodger

Uploaded a pic of the extractors I bought so making a start on the engine.

Now sourcing the bits for the smash repair and a HVLP spray gun and maybe a new welder.

Still on the look out for a Weber but.
