Default R154 electronic speedo conversion...how to do?

IM making up a new custom dash for my ma61 and the only decent looking speedos i can find are all electronic.
Obviously im running the ma61 stock cable speedo into the r154 atm. is about 15% off being accurate...

anyway is there an easy way i can convert the cable signal to an electronic one?? does a jza80 w58 nylon gear work on the r154? does anyone make an aftermarket one or something??

    cheers guys
    Blake

A JZA80 electronic speed sensor will probably work, but failing that you should find what you're looking for in a late-model Hilux with an R150 or R151.

Have a look at the electronic sensor on the 1G A340e that you have.

It may fit into your box OK and solve your problem! (Revmove it from the auto box and see if it has the gear numbers stamped on it, if you are lucky it will be the same ODiameter and inner tooth count as your existing R154 gear).

You need to provide +12V and GND to two of the three wires on it, and the other will be a square wave output as you turn the gear.

If this is all beacuse you cannot get your tacho working I can have a look at fixing that easier...

    Cheers

nah i just think the sa63 dash looks like its got aids. so outdated n plain. am going to look at using the original footprint with a bit of stainless with a bunch of decent gauges on it. so my fuel gauge is accurate enough, my temp i can actually see etc
