    Default 20V exhaust setups

    hey all
coming close to needing to remake the exhaust on my 71 n just wondering on what peoples thoughts are for the new setup im thinkin of doing.

on my rally car i used to run a muffler on the collector of the extractors and nothing else after that (yes i know very crude) but it worked well and sounded great.

im thinking of replicating the same sort of thing on my other car with the 20v and am not sure which will be better for flow.

would extractors -- muffler --- straight through pipe under diff and out the back flow better due to exhaust gasses being hotter at the time of passing through the muffler and minimising the rasp

    or....

would the conventional extractors -- straight through pipe under diff -- rear muffler... flow better and minimise rasp?

my thoughts are towards the first given hotter gas flows faster so wouldnt spend as much time in the muffler

    any thoughts are appreciated
    cheers

In my 4AGZE (slightly different but much worse for rasp) I run a 2.5" system with a center straight through muffler and twin rear straight through mufflers (one exhaust tip either side).

If you were to have one center muffler and one rear muffler, both straight through, you will end up with a nice deepish note free of rasp. Forget resonators, on my car they made it sound like a Honda, hence the replacement to a center muffler.
I would look at the 2 1/4" mark for pipes for a 20v silvertop.

    I currently have a 20v in my ae86.

The exhaust setup when i got it went extractors--->resonator--->piping under diff--->muffler

This wasnt very raspy at all, i think the closer the muffler is to the rear, the more muffled it is.

I now have extractors--->resonator--->small mid muffler--->piping under diff and out the back

It is alot raspier and heaps louder on medium to full throttle.
The sound is actually more barable on idle because it isnt as deep, but is definately louder.\

    hope this helps
