The alt shouldnt charge unless the light is wired up. (or the wire is wired to earth-dodgey)
yes wire it up.
So umm, i got a new alternator, works n everything ripped the old one apart and one of the phases had completely burnt out/been fuckin hot.
Sourced a brand new alternator that fits the 4agze factory alt bracket with minimal mods (1 spacer for the foot) and it works a treat. (gotta love trade discounts)
Been reading over a few pages on the net and such though, and have realized i do not have the charge light hooked up to the dash and am concerned it may cause a problem.. and should i hook it up?
almost back on the road, i replaced all the belts while i had the alt out.
Have a feeling that's exactly the case, will have to rip out the dash n trace back what pin it ended up going to... Could have swore it was right but I'll be wrong by the sounds of things.
Hooked up the charge light... no longer charges at 14.5 on idle, more around 12.5-13.2 picks up with revs
alternator still gets quite hot, im thinking i may have an earth leak somwhere.. will get out the ohm meter tonight n have a play
mmmm drawing 28-30A on idle..... something aint right. Dead short somewhere i think
good thing I mentioned checking the wiring in your other thread![]()
mmm no sure but i think i fucked my oddessy batt.... keeeps wanting to take 19+Amps charge
hooked up a known working battery n it was only taking 8A charge.. voltage stayed constant ect..
gonna sit the oddessy on the trickle charger over night n see what its at tomorrow, hope to fuck i can get my money back its not even 8 months old.
And thanks JP much love XOXOX
