ease of height adjustment, ease to change spring rate/spring length, additional clearence to strut towers for additional camber. thats anout all.
So im try to make a decision,
A, use Stiff shocks and springs combo
or B use coilovers sleeve kit,
what are the benefiets in a toyota strut of using the sleeve kit?
the main thing coilovers are great for is height adjust-ability but you cant AFAIK change the height without spring droop, so therefore no real benefeit as far as i can think of,
has anybody got any other thoughts?
car in question is ma61

Surely you can get base height adjustable to suit MA61? As in BC's or similar
Adjustablitiy really is what coilovers give you as you are aware, depending what other bits you have (camber tops, sleeve type, strut type, rcas, etc)
nah they're not made for ma61 cressida may fit i guess , cant really afford a full kit atm tho so its either sleeve kit or just spring and shock setup
spring droop seems irrelevant to me if the spring stays captive?
also the kit from Otomoto seems like the best deal going right now
ease to change spring rate/
Why I DON'T recommend coilovers UNLESS you have corner scales.
You can seriously change the cars dynamics, and without corner scales you'll have no idea how severely you have changed things.....
if your coilovers come with corner scales -
if your coilovers DON'T come with corner scales -![]()
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
If you can get the exact ride height and rate you want, conventional springs are technically superior to coilovers as the spring axis is usually designed to not be in-line with the shock axis.
Advantage of coilovers is height/corner weight adjustment, and common interchangable springs with few downsides.
Spring droop is a complete non issue as it is ONLY dependant on the spring rate. If anything coilover springs are better for this as they always have square ends and are much less likely to wind themselves off the spring perches.
on anything even partially serious i'd go coil-over kit every time.
oh and oldskewertoy, if you set up your perches at the same droop height there is no difference to using the standard perches either, or if like me you make sure your sleeves are installed at the same height on each side and make sure the perches are at the same height there is no issue either.
With a stock length shock you CAN'T legally go any lower/stiffer than King Lows, as the spring becomes uncaptive.
This is the main reason I converted to weld on coil over sleeves.
