Default Replacement camshafts, should i use replacement girdles?

I am looking to get a spare set of cams reground for my 5sfe celica. My idea was to get a set from the wreckers and then get those reground instead of the ones in my car.

Should I use my original camshaft top bearing girdles or get the ones from the wrecker?

Use your original top bearing girdles. When the head was made it will be line bored throught the cam bearing journals in the head so only the girdles fitted to that head will line up and they have to be kept in the same place. if you put bearing girdles from another head on your head you will need to have a bit machined off the bottom of the girdles and then get your head line bored through the cam journals.

Thanks very much for the heads up, that will definitely make it easier to find a set of cams.
